I was lucky enough to meet one of my favorite authors this last fall in San Antonio at WorldCon 2013 – Hugh Howey, author of WoolDustSand, and many other great books. I didn’t just get to meet him, but I got to have dinner with him and several other fans, as well as present him several Grey Gecko books as gifts (including mine!), and get a copy of Wool signed. Many thanks to my friend and fellow author Shannon for coming through in the clinch with the very last copy anywhere in San Antonio (really!) when I couldn’t get another one because I’d forgotten mine at home (again, really).

Here’s proof:

That’s me with Hugh, and me behind the camera for Hugh with my fellow Grey Gecko folks Lee Lackey, Leo King, Dominick D’Aunno, George Wright Padgett, and Scott Weitzenhoffer.

So, the point of today’s post is not to brag about the accomplishment of meeting Hugh, but rather to agree with — and point you to — a recent post on his blog about selling books, and how most books don’t.

Check out this most excellent article on his website here: Most Books Don’t Sell

Then get back to creating something amazing. You know that’s what you should be doing, and so do I.
